Department of Economics and Management is one of the earliest departments established in the college. It began enrollment in 1980, with an abundant experience of running school for thirty years. Currently, there are such majors offered in the department as Electronic Accounting, Marketing, Business Administration and E-commerce. A characteristic and well-structured group of majors has basically formed to meet the requirements of the development of the light industry, economy and society of Guizhou. The number of full-time students in the department has reached 1271.
The department has a well-structural faculty team of excellent, dedicated and innovative full-time teachers and part-time teachers (also involved in administration). Currently, there are 52 teachers in the department, including 1 professor, 10 associate professors, 29 lecturers, 1 provincial expert, 25 Master’s degree holders and 2 would-be Master’s degree holders. Most of the teachers have the experience of having worked or received practical training in enterprises with “dual-qualification”, expertise and practical skills.
With great efforts, the department has been active in inviting enterprise experts, skilled technicians and project engineers as part-time teachers so as to strengthen the cultivation of students’ practical abilities to meet the needs of market. During more than 30 years, the department has cultivated nearly 3000 talents for society. Many practical training facilities have been built, including ERP training rooms, accountant’s manual work training rooms, e-accounting training rooms and commence service technology training rooms, etc, covering an area of near 1000 m2. The equipment of software and hardware is worth nearly 2 million RMB. These facilities are designed to provide good conditions for multifunctional practical training of e-accounting, manual accounting, enterprise management, business technology, enterprise sand table simulation, supply chain management and financial chain management, etc. The students of the department have a solid foundation of knowledge, skills and strong competitiveness. In such competitions as the “Challenge Cup” and The National ERP Sand Table Simulation Tournament for Undergraduates, the students of the department have won many awards. The previous crops of graduates have been praised highly by employers. Some graduates have become backbones in enterprises and institutions. For the recent three years, the employment rates of the department have been above 95%.
