【Introduction to Department of Information Engineering】Department of Information Engineering was founded in June, 2006. It has seven teaching & research groups, which are related to the teaching of such majors as computer application, multimedia technology, animation design and production, software technology, computer network technology, computer information security technology and the teaching of fundamental computer courses. The department is mainly engaged in the teaching and management of information specialties, as well as the teaching of computer courses for other teaching departments. A well-structural faculty team composed of industrious, vigorous and talented teachers with favorable practical experience is working in the department. Currently, there are 46 full-time and part-time (also involved in administration) teachers, including 15 associate professors, 2 experimentalists and 18 “dual-qualification” teachers.
Currently, the majors offered in the department are Computer Application Technology, Computer Multimedia Technology, Animation Design and Production, Software Technology, Computer Network Technology and Computer Information Security Technology. The relatively complete on-campus facilities for practical training have been established, including computer rooms, computer hardware training rooms, computer network training rooms, computing centers, multimedia training rooms, animation training rooms, photographic studios, etc. All these facilities can ensure students good training of core skills.

With service as its aim and employment as its guidance, the department always persists in the way of industry-college combination. It has established cooperative relationships with many related enterprises in and out of the province in an effort to explore the teaching mode of industry-college combination. In the meantime, giving full play to the social functions of education, the department is one of the training bases of distance education in Guizhou. Moreover, the department is always attaching great importance to students’ employment and job guidance. The employment rates of the department have always been above 90%.
